White Macael Marble (Blanco Macael)

The grey-white marble from Macael (Andalucia, Spain) has large crystals and is often full of straight grey veins which indicate the direction of its growth.

This characteristic veining can be used to emphasise form. The large crystals allow diverse structures and lightplay including a mirror finish to the surface.

Workability

Unlike other marbles which have a very homogenous structure like, for example, Carrara marble, White Macael marble cannot be equally well worked from all sides. The working of the stone depends on the direction of its growth.

Its characteristic veins serve well to emphasise form and the large crystals allow many structures, lightplay and a mirror finish to the surface.
