Yellow Macael Marble (Amarillo Macael)

This yellow marble from Macael (Andalucia, Spain) is fascinating not only for its warm colour but also for its fossils: plant-like, fine, brown lines, particularly noticeable in the yellow "Triana".

Workability

From the sculptor' s point of view, Yellow Macael Marble can be difficult to work because of its irregular structure. It may contain hard, brittle areas which break off too easily and soft areas which crumble. The selection of a uniform stone is in this case very important. However, beautiful structural contrasts can be achieved and an intensification of colour through the use of polished and unpolished surfaces.
