Stones, a travel, a path

"I look at life as my journey. My work reflects the different places; the stones are my path, the dialogue between us the vital essence of this journey. Less is more. In the simplest of forms, one encounters the deepest of secrets."

"My journey to Spain in 1991 set me on my path as a sculptor, leaving behind my career as a teacher of arts, maths and science in Germany. My encounters with stone, together with my immersion in a new culture, gave me a completely fresh outlook, both more intuitive and open to sculptural expression. From the outset, simplicity dictated the form of the pieces, which so often rise from within the stone itself. Experimentation and improvisation led me to the theme of the feminine form, both figurative and non figurative."
